The art of creativity: lessons from 3 remarkable books

Updated: Sep 21, 2023

I'm thrilled to share some remarkable books that have been my companions in my quest to conquer creative blocking.

The Art of Creativity

This past weekend, I embarked on a captivating journey for the second time within the pages of Deepak Chopra's "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success." This self-help gem masterfully blends spiritual wisdom with actionable advice for those pursuing triumph and fulfillment. Chopra unveils seven fundamental principles, beautifully coined as the "spiritual laws of success." These laws encompass profound concepts such as the law of pure potentiality, the art of giving and receiving, and the principle of least effort. In the blink of an eye, I devoured this concise yet impactful tome, a testament to its compelling content. Whether you seek profound answers or wish to rekindle your inner calling, this book comes highly recommended.

Now, I sometimes get obsessive with my reading habits. This time, my hunger led me to devour the entire book in a single sitting. Deep and resonant, "The Seat of the Soul" by Gary Zukav had previously escaped my grasp. I'd stopped at the third chapter on a previous attempt two years ago. Yet, its compelling reputation provoked me to give it another chance. This spiritual self-help masterpiece delves into the intricate realm of the soul and its indispensable role in our existence.

Within its pages, Zukav navigates that life's journey extends beyond mere external accomplishments, emphasizing personal and spiritual growth. Topics like karma, intuition, and the profound power of choice are artfully explored. The book passionately argues that harmonizing with the soul's purpose can direct us into a life that's not only more fulfilling but also undeniably authentic.

And finally, I've embarked on the 12-week voyage of discovery within the enchanting world of "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. This celebrated work is a guiding light for those seeking to tap into their abundance of creativity and overcome any creative impasse. Penned by Julia Cameron, a distinguished author, and artist in her own right, this book unveils a transformative 12-week program designed to kindle the creative spark within.

Within its pages, you'll find practices like the invigorating morning pages, a daily journaling ritual, and artist dates, solo escapades aimed at nurturing the creative spirit. With her seasoned wisdom, Cameron expertly guides readers toward unlocking their innate creativity, all in pursuing a more gratifying and artistic life.

Creativity, as we all know, is a treasure nestled deep within our souls. I embarked on this expedition to liberate myself from the bonds of creative paralysis. I'm eager to share my journey to joy and flow with you, dear reader.

Have you read any of these? Please, share your thoughts with me.

Thank you for accompanying me on this exhilarating adventure.

Color Your Life!

Love, Drica
