Hey there, friend!
Let me take you back to the beginning of my artistic journey. Picture this: I was 16, full of dreams and creativity, when my Italian father dropped the bombshell – my siblings and I needed to start working, gain some responsibility. Cue the shock! I had no clue where to even begin looking for a job.
My brother and sister had it easy; they jumped to help my father with his recycling company. But not me – I knew deep down that it wasn't my path. The family dubbed me the rebel, but I was just being true to myself.
Then came my mom with a stroke of genius that turned my 16-year-old idealist, free-spirit brain around. Her idea? Selling my paintings to her friends and family! How amazing is that?
I'll always wonder whether she did it because she was tired of canvases cluttering the house from my art school days or because she truly understood her daughter. But one thing's for sure—creating custom canvases has been my absolute favorite artwork form. I never stopped painting after that.
In college, I took some interesting turns and began my journalism career, jumping from radio to newspapers, magazines, and websites. Art became my cherished hobby, and I would create something special for my friends and family every holiday.
I'll write another blog post about how I gave up journalism and became a professional painter. Would you like me to share it in the coming weeks?
Color Your Life!
Love, Drica
